The goal of the laboratory is to investigate complex intelligent systems that require adaptation, learning, control, and optimization. Active areas of research include integration of adaptation and optimality in aerospace systems and integration of distributed energy resources in cyber-enabled energy grids. System concepts including stability, learning, safety and optimality, distributed decision-making, concepts in large-scale systems such as cybersecurity and privacy, and analysis and synthesis of cyber-physical-human systems are of interest. Broad implications on societal-scale challenges including equity and fairness, and human-automation interaction are also explored. Current applications are focused on aerospace systems, cyber-enabled energy grids, and urban mobility.
